September 2026 horoscope for all 12 signs

What is actually happening in the sky in September 2026: Sun into Libra on the 23rd, Venus into Scorpio on the 10th, the eclipse echo — plus a read for all 12 signs.

September 2026 horoscope for all 12 signs

August was a two-eclipse month: a solar eclipse on the 12th at 20°02′ Leo, a lunar one on the 28th at 4°51′ Pisces. Two in four weeks is a heavy load and a rare one. September, standing next to that August, is noticeably quieter — and that is its whole character. This is a month for finishing things, not for bracing against them.

The month has only just started, so here is the whole shape of it up front: what is actually happening in the sky, the four dates the month organises itself around, and a separate read for each of the twelve signs. No "the stars advise" — astrology describes the weather, not the script, and you are still the one making the calls.

What is happening in the sky in September 2026

The Sun is in Virgo until September 23, then in Libra. Three weeks about order and getting things done; the last week about other people. The ingress falls in the first minutes of the day by Kyiv time, which is why American calendars mark it as September 22 — not an error, just a time zone. The same moment is the autumn equinox.

Mercury is in Virgo until September 10, then in Libra. Those first ten days are the sharpest window of the month: paperwork, applications, study, negotiations, anything where the exact wording matters. After the 10th Mercury moves into Libra and the conversation changes genre — no longer "say it precisely" but "reach an agreement with a person." One thing worth stating plainly: Mercury is not retrograde for a single day in September. The next station retrograde is October 24. The usual excuse is unavailable this month.

Venus leaves Libra for Scorpio on September 10. Ease gives way to depth. And by the end of the month Venus almost stops moving: on October 3 she turns retrograde at 8°29′ Scorpio, so through the final week of September she is barely crawling. That is why late September feels like relationships getting more honest and heavier at the same time.

Mars is in Cancer until September 28. In Aries, Mars goes straight at the target. In Cancer the straight line is closed off: Cancer reads first who is going to get hurt, so the action travels in an arc. Irritation does not come out in the moment; it surfaces two hours later. On September 28 Mars moves into Leo and the reaction goes direct again.

The echo of the August eclipses. Eclipse consequences rarely arrive on the day itself — they take weeks, which is exactly why a lot of August finally makes sense now. There is a part of this you can check: all through September Jupiter is walking through Leo toward 20°02′, the exact degree of the August eclipse, and it arrives there on October 3. Saturn is doing the opposite — backing up through Aries all month, from 13°41′ to 11°39′.

Every date and degree in this article is computed with the same astronomy engine Eira uses to build natal charts. None of it is copied from a ready-made calendar.

The four dates the month organises itself around

The first week — the eclipse echo. The lunar eclipse was on August 28, only days ago, and on September 9 the Moon returns to the degree of the August solar eclipse. Don't force decisions this week: what looks like a final conclusion right now often reads differently ten days later.

September 10–11 — the month changes key. On one day Venus leaves Libra for Scorpio and Mercury enters Libra; the two planets essentially swap places. The next day, September 11, brings a new Moon at 18°26′ Virgo. If there is an honest starting line in this month, it is that one — not September 1.

September 23 — the Sun enters Libra. From getting things done to getting things agreed. Day equals night, and from there the month is about other people rather than about your task list.

The end of the month — Venus slows to a stop. A full Moon at 3°38′ Aries on September 26, Mars into Leo on September 28, and Venus in Scorpio moving slower every day. Relationships get deeper and more honest — not because someone finally decided to talk, but because walking around the subject has become harder than walking into it.

Why September is easier than August

An eclipse does not "do" anything. It coincides with the moment the Sun and Moon meet at the same point in the sky near a lunar node, and it almost always lands on a subject that was already carrying weight. August had two such moments, sixteen days apart, and between them — Leo and Pisces — they touched about half of all charts.

September has no eclipses at all. The next one is February 6, 2027. The sky this month is ordinary in the best sense: Sun and Mercury in Virgo, the sign that likes finishing things; Mercury direct; not a single slow planet changing direction.

Which gives the month its one real conclusion: if August knocked you sideways, that was August, not you. Don't go hunting for something broken in yourself where there was simply a load.

Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

After August, an exhale — the energy comes back. The shared task for the fire signs this month is to finish what summer started rather than grab at something new.

Aries

The Sun spends the month in Virgo, which is your sixth house: work, routine, the body, the small tasks that have been piling up since July. September is better spent repairing the everyday than conquering a summit. Meanwhile Saturn is backing up through your own sign, from 13°41′ to 11°39′ Aries — if you were born roughly April 1–4, a question you thought was closed comes back. The full Moon on September 26 at 3°38′ Aries makes the accumulated stuff visible, and on September 28 Mars, your ruler, moves into Leo: your energy arrives right at the end of the month.

Leo

Whatever landed on you after the eclipse eases off by mid-month. The Sun left your sign back on August 23 and spends September in your second house — money, resources, your own sense of worth. But here is the detail nobody mentions. Jupiter is moving through Leo all month toward 20°02′, the exact degree of the August eclipse, and reaches it on October 3. The point that closed something in August reopens in early October, this time with a plus sign in front of it. September is the month to prepare whatever will be presented there. The eclipse itself is unpacked in Leos are having the hardest time right now.

Sagittarius

The Sun in Virgo sits in your tenth house: you are visible, and you are visible specifically through your work. This is not about a promotion. It is about the opinion of you that forms while you are busy doing something else. The August lunar eclipse in Pisces hit the mutable cross, and Sagittarius caught it by square — if the end of August was murky, that is why (the four signs it hit). From September 10 Mercury in Libra turns you toward people and connections: asking for help is easier this month than it usually is for you.

Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Your season. The Sun and Mercury in Virgo are working in your favour and plans actually come together.

Taurus

The Sun in Virgo is your fifth house: the things done for pleasure rather than for usefulness. The first ten days, while Mercury is also in Virgo, are the best window to go back to a course or a project you shelved. From September 10 Venus, your ruler, moves into Scorpio — your seventh house — and nearly stops there, so the second half of the month will hold you inside the subject of relationships longer than you planned. Running underneath all of it is Chiron retrograde in Taurus (what that changes): an old thought about yourself returns with no trigger at all.

Virgo

By every formal marker this is your month: the Sun in your sign until September 23, Mercury until the 10th, a new Moon on September 11 at 18°26′ Virgo. The first week after the eclipse is hard, and here is the mechanism — the lunar eclipse of August 28 fell at 4°51′ Pisces, directly opposite the start of Virgo, so it hit hardest those born in the last days of August. After that it lifts. The one thing to watch: don't take on more than everyone else, the way you usually do. Virgo is very good at finishing other people's business and calling it order.

Capricorn

The Sun in Virgo runs through your ninth house — study, long-range plans, anything that widens the horizon. September is a good month to enrol, file the application, start the long programme, and the first ten days with a precise Mercury are the best window for the wording. Your ruler Saturn, meanwhile, is retrograde in Aries, your fourth house: while the plans look into the distance, the question of where home actually is stands quietly beside you, waiting.

Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Plenty of people and plenty of talking — especially from mid-month, when first Mercury and then the Sun arrive in Libra.

Gemini

Mercury, your ruler, moves fast all September with no reversals, so your head runs at full power. The Sun in Virgo, though, sits in your fourth house — the one that asks for home, quiet and sleep. That contradiction is the month's real risk, and the instruction is simple: protect your sleep. Your head is overloaded and your body will tire before it does. You will notice it not in your thinking but in the fact that you start making mistakes in easy things.

Libra

For the first three weeks the Sun moves through your twelfth house, the least visible part of the chart. Hence the feeling that the month looks calm and yet there is nothing in the tank. From September 23 it is noticeably easier: the Sun arrives in your sign and your personal new year begins. There is a wrinkle that rarely gets said out loud, though — Venus, your ruler, leaves Libra on September 10, so the party starts without the host. Mercury does the opposite and enters Libra on the 10th, which is why the words come easily even when the energy does not. And if relationships this month feel less like joy and more like duty, that is a separate conversation, and it is about Saturn in the 7th house.

Aquarius

The Sun in Virgo runs through your eighth house: shared money, debts, obligations, everything that is split with someone else. September is a good time to sort out the paperwork you would rather not think about. In the background the North Node's move into Aquarius keeps working (what it changes for eighteen months) — the direction that is uncomfortable and good for you at the same time now runs straight through your sign.

Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

The most sensitive month of the four. Here the question is less what to do and more how much it will cost you to do it.

Cancer

Mars is in your sign until September 28, and that rarely feels like a surge of energy — more often it is irritation that comes out late. The Sun in Virgo sits in your third house: conversations, documents, short trips, neighbours, close relatives. Your subject this month is home and family, but you will not be able to walk at it head-on. The full read is in Mars in Cancer. From September 28 Mars moves into Leo and it gets quieter inside.

Scorpio

From mid-month, the tide comes in: Venus arrives in your sign on September 10. And she stays — on October 3 she turns retrograde at 8°29′ Scorpio, meaning that through the last week of September she is almost standing still. In practice, whatever begins for you around the 10th will not fly past; it will sit with you for weeks. The Sun in Virgo meanwhile moves through your eleventh house — your circle, your plans, the people you are connected to by a shared project.

Pisces

The lunar eclipse of August 28 fell at 4°51′ Pisces, in your sign, and that was a direct load, especially for those born in late February. After an eclipse you need time, and recovery is work too — in September it may be the main work. The Sun in Virgo runs through your seventh house, so other people are larger than usual in your field of view right now, and it is through them that you understand yourself. If you want to work out what exactly got to you, start with the Moon in your natal chart.

How to check September against your own chart

A sign-based forecast is about the Sun and nothing else. Everything that decides how a month actually feels — the Moon, the Ascendant, the houses — is individual. Three things you can look at yourself:

  1. Where Virgo and Libra fall in your chart. A sign is not yet a house. Find which houses of your chart Virgo and Libra occupy: that is where September will happen for you. How to read that is covered in How to read your natal chart.
  2. The four degrees of the month. 20°02′ Leo (solar eclipse), 4°51′ Pisces (lunar eclipse), 18°26′ Virgo (the new Moon on September 11) and 8°29′ Scorpio (where Venus stops). If your chart has a planet within three degrees of any of those points, that storyline is yours regardless of your Sun sign.
  3. Your birth time. Without it the houses cannot be built at all, and half of this forecast is houses (why it matters).

How to spend the month well

  • Finish what summer started instead of starting something new. Virgo and Mercury in the first ten days give you exactly the precision August was missing.
  • Put one area in order — one, not all of them at once. Virgo supplies the energy for that, but not an unlimited amount.
  • Don't go looking for a fault in yourself. If August knocked you sideways, that was August, not you.
  • Have the conversation you keep walking around before September 23. After that date the Sun is in Libra and the subject surfaces by itself — better that it surfaces because you raised it.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what people ask most about September 2026.

Is Mercury retrograde in September 2026?

No. Mercury moves direct all month: through Virgo from September 1 to 10, then through Libra, and it enters Scorpio on September 30. The next station retrograde is October 24, 2026.

What date does the Sun enter Libra in 2026?

September 23. The ingress falls in the first minutes of the day by Kyiv time, so calendars set for the Americas put the same minute on September 22. Both dates are correct — it is a time zone question, not a calculation error.

Are there any eclipses in September 2026?

No. The August pair, on the 12th and the 28th, closed the eclipse season. The next eclipse is on February 6, 2027. That absence is a large part of why September feels calmer.

What does the "eclipse echo" mean and how long does it last?

An eclipse rarely coincides with an event on the day. Usually a chain of things leads there and it unfolds over weeks. There is no exact formula for it, and promising "exactly forty days later" would be a lie. What can be checked is this: an eclipse degree switches back on when a planet crosses it. This time Jupiter is the planet walking toward 20°02′ Leo, and it arrives on October 3.

Which September 2026 dates matter most?

September 10–11 — Venus into Scorpio, Mercury into Libra and the new Moon at 18°26′ Virgo; and September 23 — the Sun into Libra. Worth marking as well: September 26 (full Moon at 3°38′ Aries) and September 28 (Mars into Leo).

Why doesn't a general sign forecast fit everyone?

Because it describes one point in the chart — the Sun. Two people of the same sign, born in different years and at different hours, will live through September differently: different Moon, different Ascendant, different houses. Our position on forecasts in general is set out in How Eira thinks about forecasts.

A general forecast is about everyone at once. If you want one about you, Eira builds your natal chart from your date, time and place of birth and shows where September's transits actually land in it.
